Funding to support young people into traineeships in NSW

NSW 1000 Trainees Funding 2

The NSW Government is making significant investments in skills development through the 1000 NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program. This initiative is designed to create career pathways, build a skilled workforce, and address workforce shortages across the public sector, particularly in critical industries like education and care.

This is the ideal time for early learning centres and out-of-school-hours care programs to invest in their teams, and Y Careers is here to support you.

We understand the challenges education and care providers face in developing a skilled, reliable workforce, especially with the increasing demand for qualified professionals. That's why we offer structured traineeships that equip young people with the necessary skills and hands-on experience to thrive in these sectors.

Through our program, we place young motivated candidates, manage the traineeship process, and provide ongoing support throughout their study. By partnering with Y Careers, you're not just filling vacancies, you’re investing in the future of education and care, helping to build a workforce that will positively impact children and families for years to come.

What is the 1000 NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program?

The program aims to recruit 1,000 additional apprentices and trainees by 30 June 2026, providing structured training and real-world experience across various industries.

With Round Two supporting up to 450 roles and Round Three set to open in May 2025, this initiative presents a valuable opportunity for employers to grow their pool of young people.

Why Traineeships Work for Education and Care Employers

Traineeships are a strategic way for organisations to future-proof their workforce. Employers who engage in these programs benefit from:

  • Workforce Development: Attract and retain skilled employees who are trained to industry standards.
  • Talent Pipeline: Train trainees to fill critical skills gaps within your organisation.
  • Industry Recognition: Position your organisation as a leader in workforce development and social responsibility.
