Our Commitment to Safeguarding children and young people

Keeping young people safe is a core commitment at Y Careers. This requires all our employees to contribute to a safe environment, safe operations and a safe culture at Y Careers.

Speak up about any safeguarding risks and/or concerns and support the continuous improvement of our spaces and safeguarding practices.
Champion safe environments at Y Careers and in communities that empower children and young people to thrive.
Ensure that any new program initiatives include consultation with children and young people using our Y Safeguarding guidance and resources.

Maintain appropriate vetting checks, including, but not limited to, Working with Children Checks (or equivalent), National Police Check, and International Police Check (as required).
Participate in all safeguarding children and young people training relevant to your role.
Facilitate and champion safe operations to ensure Y Careers people have the right policies, processes, and practices to keep children and young people safe.

Uphold the rights of, and always act in the best interest of, children and young people.
Fulfill your responsibilities under safeguarding legislation within your State and/or Territory, including declaring anything you become aware of through the course of your engagement with Y Careers, which a reasonable person would consider could impede your suitability or the suitability of a Y Careers staff member or volunteer to have contact with children and young people.
Support your colleagues, supervisors, and/or any direct reports to understand their responsibilities under safeguarding legislation.
Champion appropriately open and transparent communication of safeguarding risks and concerns with Y Careers to inform continuous improvement.
Support your team to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and empower them to ask any questions if they are unsure.
Have a strategic understanding of safeguarding across Y Careers to ensure safeguarding is embedded at strategic level.

Our Recruitment Process

: Keep an eye on our internal Jobs Board for our latest vacancies!
When applying, a short cover letter is always welcome but not required. Once you have submitted your resume, you will receive an email acknowledgment that your application has been received.

: If you are successfully shortlisted, you will be invited to attend interviews that may be in person or online. This is a great time to ask any questions about Y Careers and the role.

: Successful candidates may have a second-round interview or progress straight to pre-employment checks. Selected candidates undergo background checks, including working with children and police checks, reference checks, and credential checks where required/relevant.

: Our People & Culture team member or a relevant manager will be in contact to offer you the position.
You will then receive the employment offer contract via email.
