How Our Career Coaches Support You in Your Traineeship

What is a traineeship 2

Support that starts once you’ve landed your traineeship

Getting a traineeship is a big step, and once you’re in, that’s where our support really kicks in.

At Y Careers, you won’t be left to figure things out on your own. Once you’ve successfully secured a traineeship, you’ll be matched with a Career Coach who’ll support you throughout your journey.

What is a Career Coach?

Your Career Coach is your go-to person while you’re completing your traineeship.

They’re there to support you behind the scenes, helping you stay on track, build confidence, and make the most of your opportunity.

Support can include:

  • Career pathway planning

  • Study support and time management

  • Personal development and confidence building

  • Goal setting and achievement

  • Skills-based training support

  • Help with challenges outside of work that may affect your traineeship

How we support you

1. Getting started
Starting something new can feel like a lot.

Your Career Coach will help you:

  • Understand what’s expected in your role

  • Feel prepared for your first few weeks

  • Set goals for your traineeship and beyond

  • Navigate education and study support requirements

2. Regular check-ins
You’ll stay connected with your Career Coach throughout your traineeship.

Support includes a mix of structured coaching sessions and quick check-ins:

  • Fortnightly coaching sessions (formal) – in-person or online sessions to review your progress in the workplace and with your formal learning, discuss goals, and support your development

  • Fortnightly check-ins (informal) – quick text check-ins to see how you’re going and if you need anything

This ongoing support is there to:

  • See how you’re going

  • Help you work through any challenges

  • Keep you motivated and on track

3. Support with work and study
Your Career Coach can support you with:

  • Managing your time

  • Staying on top of your training

  • Building confidence in your role
