What is the difference between the two?

But they're designed for different industries and different career paths. Traineeships are typically shorter and lead into service-based roles - think childcare, aged care, disability support, and community services. Apprenticeships are longer and more hands-on, leading into skilled trades like plumbing, electrical, and construction.

In Australia, traineeships usually take 12–24 months, while apprenticeships run for 3–4 years.
