We’re excited to announce that Lane Cove Council has joined Y Careers as our newest employer partner, expanding career opportunities for young people in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). This partnership strengthens the local workforce while providing young trainees with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a nationally recognised qualification.
Lane Cove Council joins a growing network of local councils that are using traineeships as an innovative recruitment strategy. This initiative not only supports young people in building their careers but also strengthens the essential workforce that underpins our communities.
“We welcome Lane Cove Council as our newest employer partner at Y Careers. This partnership shows how local employers can create meaningful work for young people while meeting workforce needs in the care industry through traineeships. We’re excited to see the impact of this collaboration and look forward to expanding opportunities for the next generation."- Amaresh Devanesen, Executive Director of Y Careers
Through the Y Careers traineeship program, Lane Cove Council has supported two young people, into 18-month Early Learning and Childhood Education traineeships with Kindy Cove Childcare Centre.
“Lane Cove Council is proud to invest in the next generation, ensuring they have the skills, support, and confidence to thrive. Through this partnership with Y Careers, we’re not only helping young trainees build their futures but also strengthening the essential early childhood education workforce in our community. We are very excited to welcome our new team members and continue investing in young people through traineeships.” - Merri Southwood, Mayor of Lane Cove
Trainees will benefit from real-world experience, industry-recognised training, mentoring and support through a Y Careers Coach and the chance to make a lasting impact on children’s lives. By investing in young people, Lane Cove Council is helping to build a skilled and passionate workforce for the local community.
We’re thrilled to welcome Lane Cove Council to the Y Careers employer network and look forward to seeing the positive impact of this partnership on both trainees and the early learning sector.
